Making an Organic Assam Guava Iced Tea
If you’re looking for an iced tea recipe that’s robust with a bit of tropical tanginess this is it! Organic Assam tea gives this icy beverage some heft, while the addition of guava juice adds a sweet-meets-tart surprise. We’ve sweetened this iced tea with good quality maple syrup, which acts as a bridge between the robust and tanginess. In a word: you will love it ;)
Ingredients: for 8 servings- 32 ounces (946 mL) boiling water
- 5 Organic Assam tea bags, or 5 teaspoons loose-leaf
- 4 tbsp (59 mL) maple syrup, or to taste
- 3 tbsp (44 mL) freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 ½ cups (350 mL) guava juice
Method:
- add tea to boiled water (Note: let freshly boiled water sit for a few minutes before adding the tea) and then steep tea for 5 – 6 minutes
- remove tea, add maple syrup and lemon juice and stir
- let tea mixture cool for 30 minutes, add guava juice and stir
- let cool completely before serving – this iced tea will last a few days in the fridge
- serve in a highball glass that’s been filled with ice
- garnish with lemon wedge if you like
