Blink Matcha Beer
Just when you thought Matcha was a superfood, it gets even better! This Matcha Beer is a healthy and tasty option for St. Patrick’s Day, with bonus points for going green naturally. The Ceremonial Grade Matcha adds a surprisingly pleasant umami flavor to the beer. Be sure to use Pilsner because you need the foam – foam is good and adds to the presentation.
Matcha Beer Ingredients: (per drink)
1 tsp Ceremonial Grade Matcha tea
1 1/2 ounces cold water
3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
16 oz bottle of Pilsner beer
Slice of lemon for garnish
In a Matcha, or shallow bowl whisk Matcha with cold water vigorously until a thin layer of foam forms over the top and there are no clumps. Because you’re using cold water you’ll need to whisk a little bit more than you would with hot water.
Add lemon juice and pour mixture into a 16-ounce beer glass.
Slowly top with Pilsner beer. You want a head of foam for a layered presentation, but not enough to make the foam overflow.
Garnish with a slice of lemon, and toast to good luck and excellent health!
